Your CV should not go beyond two pages, so deciding what to include and what to leave off is very important. Everything you include should be relevant to the needs of your employer and be designed to enhance your application。
你的簡(jiǎn)歷不能超過兩頁,所以決定好哪些是必要的信息,哪些需要去掉是很重要的。簡(jiǎn)歷中所包含的信息必須符合雇主的需要,并且能突出你適合此職位的原因。
It is vital to fully understand what the company is looking for; parts of your background will be more relevant to what the company requires than others. You can adapt your CV for the specific job requirement; try to match what you offer with the company’s needs. Do your research on the company, read the job advertisement carefully and then highlight how your CV ties in with their job requirements。
全面理解公司需要的信息是十分關(guān)鍵的,你的某些背景可能比其他東西更對(duì)公司的胃口。你可以針對(duì)特定的職位要求修改自己的簡(jiǎn)歷,盡量讓自己提供的信息與公司的需要相符合。對(duì)所應(yīng)聘的公司做一番調(diào)查,仔細(xì)閱讀招聘廣告,然后加強(qiáng)簡(jiǎn)歷內(nèi)容與職位要求的相關(guān)性。
Include relevant examples of your achievements that make you an especially well qualified candidate. Show why your skills are transferrable; tell the employer what you can do with your talent in the position you’re applying for. Bullet-point your list of skills and include a brief note alongside each skill. The employer can scan the list and you can talk in greater depth about them at your interview。

Under the heading of education and qualifications you should include formal and vocational training but keep the list short and concise. Include the details of where and when you received the training but it’s not necessary to list the grades of your qualifications. If they aren’t exceptional it is usually better to omit this information。
在教育程度和資格證書里,必須包括正式教育和業(yè)余培訓(xùn)信息,但記住保持目錄短小簡(jiǎn)潔。這其中含有接受培訓(xùn)的時(shí)間和地點(diǎn),但資格證書中不需要寫出所獲等級(jí),如果成績(jī)不是非常優(yōu)秀,一般**好省略此信息。
When you are listing any jobs you have had, it is common to do this in reverse chronological order; listing your most recent job first and working backwards. Give a brief summary of your roles and responsibilities and omit any jobs not related to the job you are applying for. Also avoid listing your salaries。
當(dāng)列舉曾從事的工作時(shí),一般按時(shí)間順序進(jìn)行陳述,從**近的開始寫,然后往前推。簡(jiǎn)要介紹你的工作內(nèi)容和職責(zé),省略那些與現(xiàn)在應(yīng)聘職位無關(guān)的東西,同時(shí)還要避免提及薪水。
What you leave off your CV is very important. Decide what is relevant and edit out the rest. For example, similar jobs can be grouped together under just one heading and emphasise promotions rather just listing all your job positions。
哪些東西不需要出現(xiàn)在簡(jiǎn)歷中也是非常重要的一個(gè)問題。先確定哪些是相關(guān)信息,然后去掉剩下的那些。比如說同類型的工作經(jīng)歷可放到一個(gè)標(biāo)題下面,同時(shí),強(qiáng)調(diào)晉升的工作而不是無規(guī)律地列出所有工作。
去掉的信息有:
(1)Irrelevant temporary job positions;
與應(yīng)聘職位不相關(guān)的兼職經(jīng)歷;
(2)Your religion; unless applying for a job at a religious institution;
信仰,除非你應(yīng)聘關(guān)宗教職位;
(3)Political affiliations;
政治面貌;
(4)Information about your family members;
家庭成員信息;
(5)Lies about your job experience or educational background;
對(duì)自身工作經(jīng)歷和教育背景造假;
(6)Health problems;
健康問題;
(7)Marital status;
婚姻狀況;
(8)What you hated about your last job;
討厭前一份工作的原因;
(9)What you hated about your last boss or co-workers;
討厭前任老板或同事的原因;
(10)Your photograph;
個(gè)人照片;
(11)Salary history;
工薪歷史;
(12)Age (for age, marital status and family status you need to be culturally aware. In the US it is not the custom to include these details. In the UK date of birth is optional and marital status no longer required. Other countries will have different requirements).
年齡(美國(guó)不要求你自報(bào)年齡、婚姻狀況和家庭情況,英國(guó)出生年月可加可不加,婚姻狀況則不需要,不同國(guó)家有不同要求,這類的文化差異必須事先了解清楚。)
如果你的簡(jiǎn)歷太長(zhǎng),這些東西也可以去掉:
(1)Interests and hobbies; anything relevant could be included elsewhere or put in your covering letter。
興趣愛好;相關(guān)的這些信息可以在其他方面體現(xiàn),或?qū)懺谇舐毿艃?nèi)。
(2)Superfluous information; driving licence or school grades。
多余的信息,例如駕駛證和學(xué)校等級(jí)。
(3)References (there is no need to provide references until a job offer has been made. You can state references are available on request or on receipt of a job offer)
